October 15, 2025 –The Children’s Museum of Illinois is introducing a new initiative called Teach the Tutor, designed to help junior high and high school students learn how to tutor younger children in math.
Targeted at students in sixth grade and above, the five-week program offers hands-on training in tutoring techniques. Sessions will also cover how to market and price tutoring services, with special emphasis on helping participants support younger siblings academically.
Teach the Tutor is free to attend, but further registration is required. Classes will take place every Thursday from October 23 to November 20, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., at the museum located at 55 S. Country Club Rd., Decatur, IL 62521.
The program is made possible through support from the Simons Foundation and the Association of Children’s Museums.
