November 2, 2025 – Millikin University hosted a grand opening for its new Millikin Market on Friday. The Millikin Market is a new on-campus initiative designed to ensure that all Millikin students have reliable access to nutritious food.
“University life comes with a wide range of challenges — access to nutritious food shouldn’t be one of them,” said Millikin University President Dr. Dean Pribbenow. “At Millikin, we are committed to ensuring that every student can focus on learning, growth, and community without worrying about where their next meal will come from. The Millikin Market is an expression of that commitment.”
The Millikin Market expands upon the efforts of the former Big Blue Pantry and builds on strong partnerships with local organizations, including the Northeast Community Fund, the United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois, Tillamook, and Refreshment Services Pepsi.
The new resource is located in New Hall 2 and officially opens to students on Tuesday, November 4. The Market will be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a Grab & Go Station available Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for students needing quick snacks or essentials between classes.
The Millikin Market is free and available to all Millikin students who are not enrolled in the All-Access Meal Plan. No referral or appointment is required — students simply need to bring their Millikin ID.
Millikin encourages students, faculty, and community members to celebrate the opening and learn more about how the Market contributes to Millikin’s ongoing mission of supporting student success through respect, dignity, and inclusivity.
