November 23, 2025 – The Board of Directors of Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity announced that they will temporarily pause all operations through the end of this year. This includes the ReStore and Christmas Shop.
In a statement, the board stated that this is not a permanent closure, but what they call a strategic step to reorganize and strengthen the organization so they can continue serving families in need for many years to come.
“Our mission remains unchanged: to build and improve affordable housing for families in need, creating strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, “the board stated in the statement.
Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity stated they anticipate reopening early next year.
