February 1, 2026 – Scovill Zoo is inviting adults who love animals and enjoy working with children and families to join its volunteer program. Volunteers support the zoo by giving guided tours, operating the carousel and Z.O.&O. Express train, providing mobile zoo presentations, and assisting with special events such as the popular Boo at the Zoo.
To prepare volunteers for these roles, Scovill Zoo offers an eight-week training program covering biology, zoology, and conservation topics. Classes are held on Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at the Scovill Zoo Education Center, located at 71 South Country Club Road, just to the right of the main entrance. Additional training is available for volunteers interested in mobile zoo presentations or working directly with animals.
