February 8, 2026 – The Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA) is accepting nominations for the 2026 induction class of the Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame, which honors residents aged 65 and older for their contributions to the state.

Each year, four older adults are inducted for achievements in areas such as the arts, sports, and entertainment; community service; education; or the labor force. Nominations are open to any Illinois resident or former resident who has spent most of their life in the state. Posthumous nominations are also accepted if the individual was at least 65 and living in Illinois at the time of their death.

Governor JB Pritzker encouraged nominations, saying, “Senior Illinoisans across the state carry unique histories, perspectives, and accomplishments that deserve to be celebrated.” IDoA Acting Director Mary Killough added, “The Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame recognizes remarkable older adults who continue to inspire growth, connection, and purpose at every stage of life.”

To be considered for the 2026 induction class, nominations must be submitted by June 2, 2026. Nominators of selected inductees are expected to participate in an award ceremony honoring their nominee.

Completed nomination forms can be submitted electronically HERE. For more information or to submit a nomination, visit the Illinois Department on Aging website.
