February 9, 2026 – Village leaders in Forsyth are exploring a new community engagement initiative for Forsyth Fest that would invite residents to help create a permanent public art installation through the Mural Mosaic America 250th program.
Unlike a traditional mural painted by a single artist, the Mural Mosaic project is designed to be created by the community itself. The process begins with the selection of a large mural image, which is then divided into hundreds of individual panels, or tiles. Community members sign up to participate and receive a tile to paint using simple, color-by-number style instructions provided by the program. No prior artistic experience is required.
Once completed, the painted tiles are collected and assembled into the full mural image, which is then installed as a permanent public art piece within the village.
Organizers say the project emphasizes participation and shared ownership, turning the mural into a collaborative effort rather than a standalone artwork.
As planning continues, village officials are asking residents to help select the mural design that best reflects the Forsyth community. Residents are invited to review and vote on potential designs online.
