February 25, 2026 – The Decatur Pintwood Derby returns Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Decatur Brew Works, bringing together fast racing, creative car designs, and craft beverages — all to benefit local Scouting programs.

The Pintwood Derby is a pinewood derby-style racing event designed for adults, businesses, and community members who want to relive the excitement of building and racing wooden cars while supporting youth development. Participants can build a new car, modify a previous entry, or enter a vehicle simply for fun.

The event features three competition categories:

  • Cub Scout Rules Division – Traditional pinewood derby racing rules

  • Outlaw Division – Creative designs with minimal restrictions

  • Best in Show – All Show, No Go – Awards recognizing creativity and craftsmanship

Proceeds from the event support local Scouting programs serving 965 youth in the Decatur area. Funds help provide camp scholarships and program assistance to ensure every child has the opportunity to participate.

Organizers say the event offers a relaxed, social atmosphere where racers and spectators can enjoy craft beverages while cheering on their favorite cars.

Registration is now open at www.stlbsa.org/pintwoodderby. Individuals, families, and businesses are encouraged to participate.

Greater St. Louis Area Scouting provides character-building and leadership programs for youth throughout central Illinois, including camping, STEM activities, service projects, and leadership development opportunities.
