Land of Lincoln Honor Flight Seeking Veterans, Guardians and Donations for 2026 Flights

February 25, 2026 – The Land of Lincoln Honor Flight is preparing for another season of honoring local veterans with trips to Washington, D.C., and is now accepting applications from eligible veterans and guardians, as well as seeking community donations.

The nonprofit organization transports World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War-era veterans to the nation’s capital to visit the memorials built in their honor. Three flights are scheduled this year: May 5 (Flight #77), September 1 (Flight #78), and November 3 (Flight #79).

Organizers are encouraging veterans from the Decatur area to sign up soon, as seats are limited. Guardians are also needed to accompany veterans on the trips and assist them throughout the day.

With new federal REAL ID requirements now in effect, veterans and guardians must have a compliant Real ID driver’s license or a valid passport in order to fly.

In addition to recruiting participants, Land of Lincoln Honor Flight is seeking donations to help cover the cost of transportation and ensure veterans can participate at no charge. Community support plays a key role in making each flight possible.

More information, including applications for veterans and guardians and details on how to donate, is available at LandOfLincolnHonorFlight.org.
