March 2, 2026 – The Macon County Continuum of Care will host its annual Community Breakfast on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 8 a.m. at The Salvation Army, 229 W. Main Street in Decatur. The event is free and open to the public, with reservations required by March 20.
The breakfast will feature the results of the 2026 Point-in-Time Count, which provides a snapshot of homelessness in Macon County and data related to housing instability in the region. The presentation will be led by R.J. Podeschi, dean of the Tabor School of Business at Millikin University, along with students who assisted in analyzing the data.
Organizers will also announce the 2026 Macon County Continuum of Care Advocate of the Year. The award recognizes an individual for outstanding commitment to supporting people experiencing homelessness.
Darsonya Switzer, chair of the Continuum of Care and CEO of Dove, Inc., will provide remarks on housing and supportive services in Macon County and outline ways community members, businesses and organizations can become involved in local efforts.
“The Community Breakfast is an opportunity to come together as a community, learn from the data, celebrate those making a difference, and identify how each of us can play a role in ensuring safe and stable housing for our neighbors,” Switzer said.
The event is hosted by the Macon County Continuum of Care in partnership with Dove, Inc. and Millikin University. Reservations must be made by noon March 20 by emailing lgarnersmith@doveinc.org or calling 217-362-7700.
