March 26, 2026– Millikin University has launched a new accelerated online elementary education program designed for transfer students and non-traditional learners.
The program, offered through the university’s College of Professional Studies and School of Education, features an asynchronous online format with eight-week courses, allowing students to complete coursework on a flexible schedule while balancing work and other commitments.
Officials say the program includes classroom internships for grades one through six and offers multiple pathways to teacher licensure. Students who already hold a bachelor’s degree can pursue a licensure-only track, while others can complete a bachelor’s degree and licensure simultaneously.
University leaders say the program aims to expand access to teacher preparation and help address workforce needs by providing a flexible path into the profession.
