March 30, 2026– The Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations (CONO) will host a public safety panel discussion on Saturday, April 11, at the Decatur Public Library.

The free event will run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the library’s Children’s Auditorium and will feature local officials including Decatur Fire Chief Neil Elder, Macon County Sheriff Jim Root, Decatur Police Chief Brad Allen and a representative from the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Organizers say the panel will include a question-and-answer session, allowing residents to engage directly with public safety leaders. The event is free and open to the public, with families welcome.

In addition, CONO will provide two NOAA weather radios as door prizes for attendees.

The organization says the discussion is part of its ongoing efforts to address community concerns about safety and strengthen communication between residents and first responders.
