April 6, 2026— April is being recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month across Illinois, with state agencies and community organizations promoting awareness and prevention efforts.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is partnering with Prevent Child Abuse Illinois, Hospital Sisters Health System, and the Poshard Foundation for Abused Children to host events and share resources throughout the month.
This year’s theme, “Pinwheels of Possibility,” focuses on supporting children and families through community involvement and early prevention efforts.
Officials say the campaign is aimed at raising awareness about child abuse and neglect while encouraging families to access available support services.
Organizers say activities throughout April will highlight the importance of safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children, as well as the role communities play in helping families thrive.
