April 7, 2026— Millikin University has named Tom Noonan as the new head coach of its men’s basketball program.

The announcement was made by Vice President of Athletics Lori Kerans, who cited Noonan’s leadership, coaching success, and ability to develop student-athletes as key factors in the decision.

Kerans said Noonan’s familiarity with the university and commitment to mentoring players make him a strong fit to lead the Big Blue program. Noonan and his wife, Amy, are both alumni of Millikin.

Noonan called the opportunity an honor, noting his connection to the university as a graduate. He also expressed appreciation to university leadership, including President Dean Pribbenow, for their support.

Noonan returns to Millikin after serving as athletic director at St. Teresa High School since July 2025. He previously worked as an assistant coach for the Big Blue from 2021 to 2025, helping the team reach the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament in 2022 for the first time in program history.

Before joining the college ranks, Noonan served as head coach at St. Teresa High School from 2010 to 2021. During that time, he compiled a 205-92 record, led the Bulldogs to six 20-win seasons, and guided the team to a state championship appearance in 2015. His teams also captured five conference titles, along with multiple regional and sectional championships.

University officials said they expect Noonan to build on the program’s foundation and strengthen its competitiveness within the conference.
