April 13, 2026— The Decatur Youth Symphony Orchestra will join musicians from the Millikin Decatur Symphony Orchestra for a collaborative concert later this month.
The performance, titled “Side by Side,” is scheduled for April 26 at 2 p.m. at the Decatur Civic Center and is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature works by composers including Igor Stravinsky, Aaron Copland, and Chevalier de Saint-Georges.
The event brings together student musicians and professional performers, giving participants the opportunity to rehearse and perform side by side. Organizers say the experience allows students to develop their skills by working closely with experienced musicians.
The concert marks the culmination of the youth orchestra’s season. The program includes students in grades 6 through 12 from schools across the Decatur area and is supported by local arts organizations and Millikin University.
