May 27, 2026 – This summer, Thinkwell Makerspace Innovations is inviting students to step away from passive screen time and into a world of creativity, invention, and hands-on learning with its 2026 Summer Camp Series.
Running throughout June and July in Decatur, Thinkwell’s camps are designed for students in grades 4–12 and combine STEAM education, creative exploration, and maker culture into immersive weeklong experiences where students build confidence by making real things.
The summer lineup includes four weeks of MakerCamp in June, followed by four unique themed camps in July covering topics like space engineering, urban art, miniature terrain building, and vintage crafting techniques.
Campers will work with tools and technologies including:

“Our camps are designed to give students the opportunity to explore ideas through hands-on creation,” said Thinkwell Makerspace Innovations. “Whether they’re building rockets, printing shirts, designing terrain models, or learning vintage crafting skills, students gain confidence by turning imagination into reality.”
June MakerCamp Series
MakerCamp runs weekly throughout June:

Each week offers new projects and experiences focused on STEAM learning and maker skills. Camps run Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch is included daily.
Tuition for June MakerCamp is $400 per week. These camps are eligible for the DPS voucher program. Registration requires a $50 non-refundable deposit applied toward tuition.
July Specialty Camps
Cyber Space Race — July 6–10
Students will create space corporations, build rockets using recycled materials and CNC laser technology, and test rover vehicles across alien terrain.
Y2K Art Attack — July 13–17
Campers explore bold creative skills inspired by late-1900s DIY art culture including stencil work, zine-making, urban mosaics, collage, and shirt printing.
Small Worlds — July 20–24
Students learn miniature terrain-building techniques used in model-making and tabletop gaming, including groundforms, water effects, static grass, and rock molding.
Vintage Crafting — July 27–31
Campers dive into calming vintage-inspired creative projects including macramé, felting, decoupage, sachets, and bergamot boxes.
July camps are $280 per week and include lunch daily.
All camps run Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Thinkwell Makerspace Innovations in Decatur. Limited spots are available.
