June 8, 2026 – The Macon County Conservation District is inviting the public to explore the fascinating world of moths and other nighttime insects during a special after-dark program on Friday, June 12.

The “What Flies at Night: Discovering Moths with Kevin Wiener” program will be held from 8 to 10:30 p.m. as part of the Conservation District’s 60th Anniversary Celebration. The event costs $5 per person, and online registration is required.

Participants will spend the evening with Kevin Wiener, an arthropod educator, professional photographer, and creator of the popular “All Bugs Go to Kevin” website and Facebook group. Wiener will use specialized lighting setups to attract and showcase a variety of insects that are active after sunset.

The interactive program is designed for all ages and will provide an up-close look at the beauty and diversity of moths and other nocturnal insects. Attendees are encouraged to bring a flashlight and be prepared for a hands-on educational experience.

The Conservation District says the event offers a unique opportunity to discover what is buzzing, fluttering, and flying after dark while learning from one of the region’s leading insect educators.
