June 8, 2026 – The Staley Museum is inviting the community to celebrate summer and America’s upcoming 250th birthday with a Patriotic Porch Pot Workshop and Mini Market Fun Day on Saturday, June 13.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the museum, located at 361 North College Street in Decatur’s historic district.

Participants can create their own patriotic porch pot arrangements during a workshop featuring plants provided by Garden Path, soil, and festive red, white and blue accessories. Registration for the workshop opens June 1 at 10 a.m. and costs $25 per pot. Participants must bring their own container, which can be no larger than 16 inches in size.

Macon County Extension Service Master Gardeners will be on hand to assist participants and provide tips on caring for their plants throughout the summer.

In addition to the workshop, the museum will host a free Mini Market featuring local small business vendors. Visitors will also have the chance to meet Hope and Cow Pie, two miniature therapy ponies from Whinny Nickers.

The Mini Market is free and open to the public.

The Staley Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and the last Sunday of each month from March through November. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and $1 for children.

More information is available at StaleyMuseum.com or on the Staley Museum Facebook page.
