June 15, 2026 – Theatre 7 is inviting area performers to audition this summer for its upcoming production of the award-winning musical Come From Away.
The musical tells the true story of the residents of Gander, Newfoundland, and the more than 7,000 airline passengers stranded there after U.S. airspace was closed following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Through music and storytelling, the production highlights the compassion and generosity shown by the small Canadian community during a time of crisis.
Auditions will be held July 7 and 8 at Theatre 7, 131 N. Water St. in downtown Decatur. Auditions begin at 6:30 p.m. each evening. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a song lasting approximately one to one-and-a-half minutes that showcases their vocal range. Participants may perform with accompaniment via speaker or sing a cappella.
The production will cast 12 actors who will portray multiple characters throughout the show. Auditioners should be prepared to learn a brief dance combination and are encouraged to provide any scheduling conflicts with the show’s performance dates, scheduled for Sept. 11, 12, and 13.
In addition to performers, Theatre 7 is seeking volunteers interested in assisting with set construction, backstage operations, and other production needs.
