July 6, 2026 – The Decatur YMCA will host a Community Blood Drive with ImpactLife on Wednesday, July 15, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. The drive will take place on the ImpactLife Donor Bus parked at 220 W. McKinley Avenue in Decatur.

A second drive will be held Wednesday, July 22, at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Assisi Room at 1800 East Lake Shore Drive.

ImpactLife says there is currently a critical need for type O-negative and O-positive blood, along with platelet donations from all blood types. Officials note that demand remains high across the region, and maintaining a stable blood supply is especially important during summer months when donations often decline.

Donating blood is a simple process that takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Most healthy adults age 17 and older—16 with parental permission—who weigh at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate. A photo ID is required.

Appointments are encouraged for both drives. Donors can schedule by contacting ImpactLife at 800-747-5401 or by visiting bloodcenter.org and using the appropriate drive codes: 60739 for the YMCA drive and 60455 for the St. Mary’s Hospital drive.

Officials remind the public that every donation can help save multiple lives, including patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, and trauma care. Impact Life is the primary blood provider for both Decatur area hospitals.
