July 8, 2026 -A free community cruise-in aimed at promoting cancer awareness and the importance of early detection will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, in Decatur.
The DMH Cares: Cruise-In for Cancer event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at 210 W. McKinley Ave. and will focus on raising awareness about screening and prevention for prostate, breast and lung cancers.
“We are excited to offer this free event to the public,” said Jill Andrews, manager of Medical Imaging Services at Memorial Cancer Care, Decatur. “It’s a fun opportunity to feature some amazing vintage cars and also raise awareness about the potentially lifesaving benefits of screenings and early detection of prostate and lung cancers.”
The event will feature classic cars, music and food and beverages available for purchase from The Turkey Man, Rockwell Coffee and Big Blue Energy.
Awards will be presented for Best in Show, People’s Choice and Survivor’s Choice.
Classic car owners are invited to participate at no cost. Vehicle registration is required and begins at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m.
