July 16, 2026 – The Crossing Healthcare Garden will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a free community event on Friday, July 25, highlighting a decade of providing fresh produce, gardening education and volunteer service in Decatur.
The celebration will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the garden, located at 320 Central Avenue. Visitors can tour the garden, participate in family-friendly activities and get gardening advice from University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener volunteers.
Since opening in 2016, the garden has donated thousands of pounds of fresh produce through programs including Market Day bags and the Prescription Produce Program. Organizers say nearly 800 pounds of produce have already been donated between June and early July this year.
Master Gardener volunteers contributed more than 100 hours of service in June, helping plant, maintain and harvest crops that support the garden’s mission of increasing access to healthy food for area residents.
The event is free and open to all ages.
