July 30, 2026 – The Macon County Fair Board is asking the community to help preserve one of Central Illinois’ longest-standing traditions by supporting a capital improvement campaign to fund nearly $80,000 in needed upgrades at the fairgrounds.
The campaign aims to raise $79,289 to complete several projects designed to improve safety, accessibility and the overall visitor experience while protecting the fairgrounds for future generations.
Planned improvements include replacing the Bingo Hall floor, making structural repairs to the grandstand bleachers, renovating the 4-H building and restrooms, replacing gutters on several buildings and purchasing a maintenance tractor to care for the grounds year-round.
“Our fairgrounds are where generations of families have created memories and where young people learn responsibility, leadership and the value of hard work,” said Macon County Fair Executive Board President Evan Hall. “This campaign is about protecting that legacy. By investing in our facilities today, we’re ensuring the Macon County Fair continues to serve our community for many years to come.”
The Fair Board is inviting businesses, civic organizations, foundations and individuals to become “Friends of the Macon County Fair” by contributing to the campaign. Officials say every donation will directly support improvements that benefit exhibitors, volunteers, vendors, youth participants and the thousands of visitors who attend the fair each year.
“The Macon County Fair belongs to our community,” Hall said. “Whether you’ve exhibited livestock, enjoyed an evening at the grandstand, volunteered your time or simply made memories with your family, this is an opportunity to help preserve something that has meant so much to so many.”
The Macon County Fair has served as a community gathering place for generations, celebrating agriculture, youth achievement, local businesses and family entertainment through the efforts of volunteers and community support.
