August 9, 2026 – With the Illinois State Fair set to begin Aug. 13, fair officials are reminding concertgoers and racing fans about security procedures and other important policies at the Grandstand.
All Grandstand guests will pass through metal detectors, and all bags are subject to inspection. The fair has adopted a clear bag policy for all Grandstand events, including concerts, harness racing and auto racing. Bags must be clear and no larger than 14 by 8 inches. Exceptions are made for diaper bags and medically necessary bags.
Officials also remind visitors that firearms, illegal drugs, laser pointers, drones and air horns are prohibited throughout the fairgrounds.
General parking is available through several gates for $5 per vehicle, with accessible parking and complimentary tram service available at designated entrances.
Grandstand concession stands are cashless, and while outside food is permitted, outside beverages and reusable drink containers are not allowed.
Guests who purchased mobile tickets are encouraged to download them to the Ticketmaster app before arriving to avoid delays at the gate.
The 2026 Illinois State Fair runs Aug. 13 through Aug. 23 in Springfield.
