August 19, 2026 – The Decatur Park Board of Commissioners has selected Jim Underwood to fill the unexpired term of former Commissioner Bob Brilley. Underwood will serve through April 2027.
Underwood brings experience in public service, government leadership, construction management and financial oversight. He previously served as Executive Director of the Illinois Capital Development Board, overseeing more than 600 projects with a combined value approaching $10 billion. He also served as Chief Procurement Officer for the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office.
His background includes construction, budgeting, auditing, contracts, grants, personnel and legal affairs. He has also served as an elected Maroa Township Trustee and Richland Community College Board Trustee.
Underwood and his family have participated in and supported numerous Decatur Park District programs and community events.
He will be sworn in and officially seated during the Decatur Park Board’s September 2 meeting.
