September 9, 2026 – Chick-fil-A Forsyth-Decatur will officially open Thursday, September 10, at 6:30 a.m., bringing the restaurant to the Forsyth community for the first time.
The restaurant is locally owned and operated by Brian Bundy, who joined Chick-fil-A after working as a corrections officer. Through the company’s Leadership Development Program, Bundy gained experience in restaurant operations and leadership before taking on ownership of the Forsyth-Decatur location.
The opening will include a “Moove-In Party,” with customers invited to wear cow print. Guests who participate can receive one free entrée or kids’ meal when visiting tomorrow in the restaurant or through the drive through.
Chick-fil-A is also marking the opening with a commitment to the local community. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Central Illinois Food Bank, a Feeding America partner, to support efforts to address hunger in the Forsyth area. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday to celebrate the new restaurant and recognize the donation.
Bundy will also participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, which provides surplus food to local community organizations. The Forsyth-Decatur restaurant will donate surplus food to The Good Samaritan Inn in Decatur.
Because significant crowds are expected during the first several days, the Village of Forsyth is implementing a temporary traffic plan in coordination with Chick-fil-A, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Macon County Sheriff’s Office.
Drivers heading north on Route 51 to Chick-fil-A should use the outside turn lane onto Barnett Avenue. The inside turn lane will remain available for access to Hickory Point Mall and other businesses. Drivers coming from the north will be directed into the designated Chick-fil-A traffic line.
Motorists are asked to follow temporary signage and directions from law enforcement and traffic-control personnel and avoid blocking intersections, driveways and business entrances.
The restaurant will also offer a mobile-order-only lane for customers who order ahead through their app.
The Village says the traffic plan is temporary and will be monitored and adjusted as needed during the initial opening period.
