September 13, 2026 – God’s Shelter of Love is inviting the community to put on their boots and denim for the fifth annual Blue Jean Ball on Thursday, October 8, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur.
The free, adult-only event begins with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. The evening will include food, fellowship and line dancing led by Johnette Mitchell.
The Blue Jean Ball comes as God’s Shelter of Love continues to see a growing need for emergency shelter for women and women with children in the Decatur community. The shelter has provided more than 3,000 emergency shelter bed nights so far this year. In May and June, the shelter saw significant increases in bed nights compared with the same months last year.
At the same time, the organization has helped 10 women and eight children move into permanent housing this year.
“The Blue Jean Ball is a chance for our community to come together, celebrate the lives being changed and help us continue opening our doors to women and mothers with children who have nowhere else to go,” said Arianna Fane, executive director of God’s Shelter of Love.
The evening will also feature three raffle packages — Boots & Beauty, Family Fun and Pitmaster’s Playground. Guests who purchase raffle tickets will be entered into their selected package drawing as well as an automatic grand-prize drawing for all three packages. A one-week getaway to Naples, Florida, will also be available to win.
The Blue Jean Ball will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1 Bachrach Court, Decatur. Admission is free, but guests must RSVP by September 24.
RSVPs can be made by clicking HERE or by calling 217-422-2790.
Funds raised through the event will help God’s Shelter of Love provide safe shelter, meals, care management and other essential support to women and women with children experiencing homelessness.
