September 17, 2026 – Decatur Memorial Hospital is inviting residents of Macon and Moultrie counties to participate in the free Harvest Hustle, a month-long community wellness challenge taking place October 1 through 31.

The challenge is open to people of all ages and fitness levels. Participants can walk, run, cycle or hike to reach their mileage goal, and wheelchair users are also welcome.

Participants can complete their activities at a time and location that works for them and track their miles using the free Pacer app. A smartphone or synced smartwatch can be used to record activity.

Anyone who logs at least 100 miles during October will receive a Harvest Hustle T-shirt.

For Vivian Goodman of Decatur, participating in the Mindful Miles challenge in May helped her return to a regular walking routine.

“I’ve always enjoyed walking, but life got busy, and I wasn’t making time for it,” Goodman said. “The Mindful Miles challenge gave me the motivation I needed to get moving again. Since May, I haven’t missed a day of reaching at least 10,000 steps, and I can truly feel the difference in my energy and overall well-being.”

Sonja Chargois, community health consultant, said the Harvest Hustle is intended to help residents stay active and develop healthy habits.

“The Harvest Hustle is a simple, enjoyable way for people to focus on their health while taking advantage of the fall weather,” said Chargois. “It’s a great opportunity to stay active and build healthy habits. Invite a friend or group to take the challenge with you!”

Registration is available through the Pacer app. For more information, contact Chargois at 217-588-7611 or chargois.sonja@mhsil.com
