September 24, 2026 – Friday, September 25th — or 9-2-5 — will officially be recognized as Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Day in the City of Decatur.
The proclamation celebrates early childhood literacy and the local effort to provide free, high-quality books every month to children from birth through age five.
September 25th is also Give Like Dolly Day, a nationwide effort encouraging support for local Imagination Library programs.
United Way of Decatur and Mid-Illinois manages the local program, including funding books and postage and handling enrollment. The program serves children in Decatur and Moultrie, Piatt, DeWitt, Shelby and Christian counties.
Community members are encouraged to consider a $9.25 donation on 9/25 to help provide books and build home libraries for local children.
