September 24, 2026 – Six Macon County Master Gardeners have received a state award for their work with Willy’s Garden Week, an educational program at the Decatur Public Library.
Toni Griffin, Angie Hollingsworth, Carla Pohl, Karen Tappendorf, Angie Wetzel and Sandi Williams received the State Master Gardener Teamwork Award during the annual Illinois Master Gardener Conference in Rockford.
Willy’s Garden Week is designed for children ages four to 10 and uses hands-on activities to teach gardening, environmental stewardship and an appreciation for nature.
The state award recognizes group projects that demonstrate impact and innovation and can be replicated in communities across Illinois.
