May 17, 2023 – History of the Heartland opens Historic Preservation Week with History Showcase Saturday on May 20th.

The organization consists of various historical organizations and groups interested in promoting the preservation of our historic structures, homes, and the stories of our people. Showcase Saturday is a day to enjoy touring many of our most iconic historic gems in Decatur, IL.

Each venue is conducting their own open house and displays for all ages to enjoy. The venues will be given 25 limited-edition elongated coins that feature the Staley Pump House and the Centennial of Lake Decatur. The coin is provided free of charge by History of the Heartland for the first 25 attendees at each of the venues.

“We are thrilled to see our many historical gems embracing our 4th annual Historic Preservation Week! It is exciting to cheer on the work of the many volunteers and board members and provide them with a special occasion to showcase their venues,” says Ayn Owens, event coordinator.
