June 21, 2023 – For 44 years, Showchoir Camps of America has welcomed thousands of young singer-dancers from across the country to Millikin University for a week packed full of workshops, new friendships and plenty of singing and dancing. NowDecatur visited this year’s session for a look into how 400 middle and high school students are honing their talents over the summer.
Students travel from as far as California and Mississippi to attend the annual camp hosted by show choir educators Dwight Jordan and Susan Moninger. The week ends with a performance for students to show all they’ve learned, which is open to the public. This year’s showcase is on Saturday, June 24 at 1:15 p.m. at Millikin’s Kirkland Fine Arts Center. The performance is free, and no tickets are required.
