Iggy Pop's David Bowie-co-produced 1977 classic “Lust For Life” topped the “Top 12 Best Punk Songs” list by the editors of Audio Ink Radio. Predictably, the Ramones followed Iggy with “Blitzkrieg Bop” from their 1976 self-titled debut and the Clash rounded out the Top Three with the title track to 1979's London Calling.

Over the decades, Iggy Pop has garnered his fair share of good and bad press. Ultimately, he told us he's happy with any positive feedback he gets for his music, regardless of where it comes from: “It's always good when you hear from somebody that they like your stuff and they've got a little gleam in their eye, and frankly, it doesn't really matter too much whether it's the guy at the gas station or the guy in the (Red Hot) Chili Peppers.”

Just prior to his 2002 death, Clash frontman Joe Strummer admitted he was inspired to form the Clash by the Ramones: “Joey Ramone and the Ramones — they really lit the touch paper to the punk rock revolution that crashed me into the scene. That first album was really important in Britain where we started to rock n' roll. I've got a great feeling always for them.”
