By Lindsay Romano Jul 12, 2023 | 3:21 PM

July 12, 2023- Heritage Behavioral Health Center is holding a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training to teach parents, caregivers, school staff, and neighbors how to help adolescents experiencing a mental health crisis.

Training will take place July 22 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Heritage. This training is aimed to provide information on depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health disorders. Attendees will learn a 5-step plan on how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

Heritage teamed up with individuals to pilot the teen Mental Health First Aid in Clinton Highschool in January 2020. This gave adults the opportunity to aid students in mental health awareness and how to communicate with others when developing a mental health crisis.

Participants will build the skills needed to reach out and provide support to young people. They’ll also learn how to guide them to appropriate support.
