August 14, 2023 – Huddle House Decatur has announced its first “Huddle Up” awardee: Eisenhower High School student Alexandra Lane-Thomas.

“We are thrilled to honor Alexandra Lane-Thomas as our monthly Huddle Up Awardee,” William Johnson, General Manager at Huddle House Decatur, said in a press release. “Her remarkable skills, unwavering commitment and contributions to the community make her an exceptional role model. We congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition.”

The award, given each month to an outstanding young athlete, artist or community servant, debuted last month by Johnson and the restaurant’s owners, Jessica Michael and Chazaray Carson. As a multi-sport athlete and volunteer, Huddle House’s staff said Lane-Thomas’ leadership and commitment to the community made her the perfect fit for the inaugural recognition, which comes with a customized, limited-time menu item at the restaurant.

Lane-Thomas participates in cheerleading, volleyball, softball, club volleyball and travel softball, and her dedication extends beyond the field or court. Throughout her athletic career, officials said she has consistently demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, serving as a “beacon of motivation and inspiration” for teammates and competitors alike. Outside of athletics, Lane-Thomas volunteers with local community service group Young Leaders in Action, at the Good Samaritan Inn and with local VFW Halls.

To celebrate her achievements, Huddle House has introduced the “Alexandra’s All-Star Breakfast Delight,” available to order by patrons dining in at the restaurant for a limited time. A biscuits-and-gravy style plate is paired with two sunny-side-up eggs and bite-sized blueberry muffin bites with the guest’s beverage of choice, and it serves as a delicious tribute to Lane-Thomas’s hard work and dedication to the community.

The restaurant will honor Lane-Thomas at a recognition meal in her honor, held Wednesday, August 23 at 6 p.m. To nominate an outstanding young athlete, artist or aspiring agriculture professional, visit the award’s website HERE.
