August 30, 2023 – Taste of History, which takes participants on a tour of five local historical sites with drinks and hors d’oeuvres in between, will take place this Saturday, October 7 from 5-9 p.m.

The event will take adults aged 21 and up across Decatur to visit and learn about the city’s history dating back to the 1800s. Taste of History is hosted as a joint effort between the sites that will be visited: the Culver House, Gov. Oglseby Mansion, James Millikin Homestead, Hieronymous Mueller Museum and the Staley Museum. Tickets are required and can be purchased for $45.

Each venue represents a business industry pioneer who influenced Decatur, including the creation of Ameren Illinois, the invention of the tapping machine and the founding of the corn starch manufacturing plant operated today by Primient. Each stop on the tour is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Decatur history, and all proceeds will go toward ensuring the preservation of such history.

The City of Decatur trolley will provide free transportation between sites during the event, but attendees are welcome to park at Central Christian Church and walk between the sites. Limited parking spaces will be available, and all five sites are within five blocks of each other.

Space is limited, and all ticket sales are final.
