March 17, 2025 – Ancient Athletics’ will host the Fourth Annual D-Town Throwdown Highland Games on April 26th.
The D-Town Throwdown Highland Games will be held the Decatur Hotel and Conference Center and will feature competitions based in traditions dating back to the eleventh century and perhaps even earlier.
Individual events will include the Stone Put, an event similar to the modern-day shot put, the Caber Toss, Scottish Hammer Throw, Weight Over Bar, Sheaf Toss, and Weight Throw.
The event will also include Celtic dancers, and pipes and drums.
Spectators are free.
The event is sponsored by Ancient Athletics and the St Andrews Society of Central Illinois.
Athletes of all skill levels and age groups are encouraged to register HERE. Athlete sign in will begin at 8:30am with the competition starting at 9:30am.
