Local robotics team seeking donation to head to invitational competition

March 11, 2024 –The 4-H SCREAM Bros FIRST LEGO League robotics team in Decatur has earned an invitation to compete with teams from all over the world at the Western Edge Invitational in Long Beach, California and they need some financial help to make the trip.  

The invitational will take place May 31-June 2 and the estimated travel costs for the team are around $15,000.  

4-H SCREAM  have racked up numerous wins in robotics competitions this year, including 2nd in state qualifier, 2nd in Robot Performance and 1st in Innovation at Sectionals, top 6 teams overall and 2nd in Robot Design at State. 

The team, made up of team members aged 10-15 from different schools around the area. Throughout the season, students have worked together to design, build, and program robots to autonomously complete missions in the FIRST LEGO League Masterpiece field. In addition to building and programming, each season of FLL includes an innovation project – a real-world problem students research and then develop a solution.
