January 13, 2021 -Tomorrow, the Decatur Municipal Officers Electoral Board will meet to hear an objection to a recent petition for an advisory referendum on the sale of marijuana.
The Electoral Board will meet Thursday to convene to hear the objection filed by Mr. Jerrold H. Stocks. The objection is in reference to the Petition for Referendum filed by Mr. Samuel J. Cahnman on behalf of Ms. Lisa R. Kendall, Principal Proponent of the Referendum. That Petition for Referendum is to ask the public question “Should the city of Decatur allow the sale of recreational cannabis and cannabis-infused products to adults 21 and older?”
The hearing will be held at 11 am Thursday. If the Referendum is allowed on the spring ballot, it would only be an advisory referendum and would not change the current ordinance.
