June 25, 2024 – ADM hosted a Career Expo Open House for high school juniors and seniors, and college students Tuesday, giving students a chance to find their futures with ADM.

The Career Expo Open House event included a tour of the commodity trading floor as well as provided students a chance to learn about various opportunities at ADM by meeting with representatives from 17 different departments across its North American headquarters.

Students learned about the ADM story and opportunities for hourly summer internships as well as full-time roles based on their interests. Students also received assistance on developing their resumes, LinkedIn profiles and brushing up on interviewing skills.

Sheldon Fluker, Regional Human Resources Manager for the Decatur ADM Campus said that students looking for opportunities at home or abroad can find a home and career at ADM. “The jobs the careers we have at ADM its not known here in Decatur. I was born and raised right here in Decatur and until I came to work for ADM about a year and a half ago, I had no idea the career opportunities available,” Fluker said. “It’s not just engineering and agriculture..there is so much more, and not just in Decatur. We are a global company.”

ADM recently welcomed over 160 interns to Decatur this past May for onsite orientation. This year’s interns represent over 50 universities across the U.S. and Canada, and are currently working at 35 locations across North America this summer for 12 weeks.

ADM interns are placed in an area that is aligned to their scholastic majors and interests. They gain real-life exposure working in plants, on the trading floor, shadowing sales calls, managing offsite audits, negotiating with farmers or tasting baked products in research labs. 22 of this year’s interns are part of ADM’s Early University Talent Identification Program which allows ADM to cultivate relationships with highly potential, diverse talent early in their university experience to then convert them into interns and ultimately full-time hires upon graduation.

Fluker said a student’s interest isn’t limited to agriculture. “No matter what you want to do, you can find a home at ADM.”
