At Disney’s D23 gathering in Anaheim, California on Friday (August 9), they made the exciting announcement that Nine Inch Nails will be composing the score for the upcoming film, Tron: Ares. The musical duo of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross made a surprise, laser-filled appearance following a teaser of the highly anticipated science-fiction sequel, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 10, 2025. Nine Inch Nails made their own announcement on Instagram, while referencing their 1990 industrial hit single, “Head Like A Hole,” with the caption: “You’re going to get what you deserve. 10.10.25.”

Reznor and Ross have collaborated on a series of movie and television scores over the years, including all of director David Fincher’s films since 2010 (The Social Network, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, Mank, and The Killer). Reznor and Ross recently won an Academy Award for Best Original Score for Disney’s 2020 film, Soul. However, Tron: Ares represents the first time the duo’s film score will be credited to Nine Inch Nails. (Billboard)
