November 6, 2024 – The City of Decatur has announced the results of this year’s city-wide clean-up efforts.
From the 7 targeted curbside Neighborhood Cleanups, the city reports that 100 tons of items were removed, 5 tons of electronics, and 350 tires. That collection covered 15 neighborhoods, serving 10,532 homes.
Following the curbside collection, the City of Decatur had volunteers canvass the neighborhoods and remove any remaining trash/debris from the streets and right of way. Numerous companies and groups took part and volunteered with the clean-up efforts including the Beautify Decatur Coalition, ADM, Ameren, Caterpillar, the City of Decatur, and neighborhood groups.
From the October 12 city-wide cleanup, the city hauled off 33 tons of items in 31 roll-off containers, 264 electronics, and 66 appliances.
The City of Decatur reminds residents that all Decatur residents have curbside bulky pickups included in their regular garbage service. You can dispose of up to 5 items per pickup, a total of 5 times per year.
