February 11, 2025 -The City of Decatur is announcing the hire of Melissa Hon as Deputy City Manager.
Hon comes to Decatur from the City of Bloomington, IL where she serves as Director of the Department of Community Impact & Enhancement. She has been with the City of Bloomington since 2016, starting as Assistant to the City Manager prior to Tim Gleason’s tenure there, and continued working in various positions on the executive team.
“I am excited for Melissa to start. Her vast experience across the entire organization will be a tremendous asset,” said Decatur City Manager Tim Gleason. “Currently there are specific needs within the organization that she can make a positive impact on day one. Melissa’s return to a city manager’s office is where she belongs.”
Hon holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science from Bradley University. Prior to her employment with the City of Bloomington, Hon spent 15 years working in Community and Workforce Development at the City of Peoria, IL. She is actively involved in various professional organizations and is committed to community service.
Hon will start her new position in Decatur on Monday, February 24, 2025. Her annual salary will be $175,000.
