February 23, 2025 -The Scouts will host the inaugural Decatur Pintwood Derby for adults on Saturday, April 5 to support local scouting programs.

The event will be held from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Decatur Brew Works. Individuals and organizations can compete by racing custom-built or purchased pinewood derby cars while supporting  local scouting programs. Car entry is $50 and there is no fee to attend.

Participants can compete in one of three divisions:

  • Cub Scout Rules Division – For those who prefer a traditional, regulated race experience.
  • Outlaw Division (Almost No Rules) – A division for those who want to push the limits and race with minimal restrictions.
  • All Show, No Go – Best in Show – For participants who want to showcase their car’s creativity and design, even if it doesn’t race the fastest.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit local scouting programs in the Decatur area, which served over 900 youth in 2024. Funds raised will provide camping scholarships and registration fees for youth who may not otherwise have access.

“We’re excited to launch this new event and bring the community together for some high-speed fun,” said David Lane, Assistant Director of Field Service for Scouting. “The Decatur Pintwood Derby is all about creativity, competition, and most importantly, supporting local youth through scouting.”
