March 29, 2021 – Planning flower and vegetable gardens can be a time-consuming task. Determining what plants will grow where, and then locating those varieties is sometimes difficult. Try something new this year. Make plans to attend the 2021 Macon County Master Gardeners Plant sale and eliminate those multiple trips to stores and complicated mail orders.
Shop the annual Master Gardener Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1 at the Macon County Fairgrounds, 3700 N. Westlawn Ave., Decatur. A wide variety of plants will be available such as perennials, house plants, succulents, herbs, vegetable and tomato plants, and more. A bargain shed offering a selection of gently used gardening supplies will also be on site. If you have horticulture-related questions, Macon County Master Gardeners and Glacier’s Edge Master Naturalists will be available for consultations. Master Naturalists will also be selling native plants. For your convenience, cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted for payment.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, each Plant Sale attendee must pre-register for an individual shopping time. Registration for individual shopping times will be from April 12 to April 26 by calling (217) 877-6042. Facial coverings and social distancing will be required for all Plant Sale attendees.
Proceeds from this event support volunteer community gardening projects, a college scholarship, and scholarships for Master Gardener training.
The Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by the University of Illinois Extension. Master Gardeners fulfill their mission of Helping Others Learn to Grow by volunteering their time and horticulture skills through community gardening projects and educational outreach.
