October 3, 2025 – The next generation of law enforcement officers showed their commitment to community service today as cadets from the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center (MCLETC) rolled into the WSOY Community Food Drive with squad cars packed full of food donations totalling 4158 pounds.
The effort is part of the academy’s commitment to shaping well-rounded public servants. Each class of cadets is mandated to completes two community service projects during their training, and this year’s class of 78 cadets chose to support the WSOY Community Food Drive as one of them.
“This isn’t just about training to enforce the law—it’s about learning what it means to serve,” said MCLETC Director of Training Ed Culp. “Serving the public is more than a daily shift in a squad”.
Their delivery adds to the thousands of pounds of food and dollars being collected today at Kroger on Rt. 36 to benefit local food pantries and feeding programs.
The WSOY Community Food Drive continues throughout the day, with donations accepted on-site, by phone, or online at WSOYFoodDrive.com.
