May 25, 2021 – The Macon County Conservation District is offering a variety of nature camps this summer for children ages 1-15. These camps have been connecting children with nature, encouraging exploration, and creating lasting memories since 1982. All camps meet at Rock Springs Conservation Area. Online registration is open at MaconCountyConservation.org.

“After a year of change and uncertainty, we are looking forward to offering summer camps again,” says Nature Center Manager, Alysia Callison. “Both seeing past campers, and welcoming new ones.”

All Macon County Conservation District camps will be subject to COVID-19 guidelines for the Decatur area, and camp activities are subject to change. Face masks required.

Earth Adventures returns as a full-day, Monday-Friday nature camp for ages 6-12. Campers will explore science, nature, and history through outdoor activities. Camp runs from June 7 through August 13. Camp will not be held July 5-9. You may sign up for any number of weeks, or attend all summer. Earth Adventures runs weekdays, from 9 am to 4 pm. A fee of $125/camper each week covers all activities. Before Care is available in the mornings, from 7 am to 9 am for $25/week. After Care is available in the evenings from 4 pm to 6 pm for $25/week. Any additional siblings in a family receive a discounted rate of $110/week. Campers bring their own lunches. Space is currently limited to 20 campers each week. Campers will be divided into two separate groups of 10.

If a full week of camp doesn’t fit your schedule, the Macon County Conservation District also offers Adventure Club. In Adventure Club, children ages 5-12 will learn about nature and outdoor skills on Tuesday mornings, from 9 am-12 pm. A fee of $12/camper each Tuesday covers all camp activities and supplies. Adventure Club will not be held Tuesday, July 6. Maximum 10 campers each week.

Children ages 10-15 can enjoy a full day of outdoor activities in X-treme Camp, including hiking and canoeing. This summer, campers will explore Macon County Conservation District sites. Camp will be held select Wednesdays in June and July, from 9 am-4 pm. Campers bring a sack lunch. The fee is $35/camper each Wednesday. Space is limited to 10 campers each week.

Mini Camps are one-hour camps for children ages 1-5 with an adult buddy. They are typically held throughout the year. In June and July, Mini Camp will explore a different local plant or animal each week. A fee of $6/camper covers all activities and a snack. Maximum 10 campers each camp.
