June 8, 2021 – Due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the Decatur Park District’s 4th of July firework display, typically held in Nelson Park over Lake Decatur will be canceled for 2021. Citing a “loss off crew members and a personnel shortage” long-term fireworks production provider, Mad Bomber, has withdrawn their proposal for the Decatur fireworks display and will be unable to have a trained certified crew available on Independence Day 2021.

The District’s Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater will still host its 4th of July Celebration with River Bottom Nightmare Band. All tickets are $4. Tickets are available in advance at The Devon’s website. The Decatur Park District plan on returning the 4th of July fireworks over Lake Decatur in 2022.

Questions can be directed to the staff at the Decatur Park District and reached at 217-422-5911.
