May 11, 2026 – St. Teresa High School boys basketball head coach Mike Noonan has announced his resignation after five seasons at the helm, as he prepares to join the coaching staff at Millikin University.
Noonan’s move marks the end of a long tenure with the Bulldogs program, where he served as an assistant coach for 16 years before being elevated to head coach in June 2021. Over five seasons leading the program, he compiled 70 wins, including a standout 26–6 campaign during the 2022–23 season and two regional championships.
St. Teresa officials say Noonan’s impact on the program extends well beyond the win-loss record.
“The Noonan name has been synonymous with St. Teresa basketball for the past twenty years,” said St. Teresa principal Matt Snyder. “Mike was a detail-oriented coach who demanded excellence from his players and his presence on the sidelines will be missed.”
Noonan took over the program beginning with the 2021–22 school year, succeeding Tom Noonan, who had led the Bulldogs for 11 seasons. Tom Noonan, a former St. Teresa principal and athletic director, has since moved into a head coaching role at Millikin University.
St. Teresa High School is now accepting applications for its next head boys basketball coach as the program looks to build on its recent success and championship history.
