July 4, 2025 – The Village of Forsyth marked a major milestone Friday morning with the official grand opening and ribbon cutting of two new disc golf courses at Forsyth Park, celebrating a yearlong collaboration aimed at expanding recreation opportunities and elevating the community’s presence in the sport of disc golf.
The ceremony featured community leaders, project partners, and members of the disc golf community gathered to unveil the new courses, developed through a partnership between the Village of Forsyth and Ledgestone Disc Golf. The project began in the fall of 2025 with a shared vision of transforming Village Park into a premier disc golf destination while also enhancing recreational access for local residents.
Village officials emphasized that the addition of two distinct courses in one location allows Forsyth to better serve both casual players and competitive athletes, while positioning the community as a regional hub for the sport. The redesign also strengthens Forsyth’s ability to host large-scale events and attract visitors from across Illinois and beyond.
The timing of the opening comes just ahead of the 10th Annual Forsyth Open, scheduled for July 10–12 at Village Park. The tournament, hosted in collaboration with the Illinois Open Series, will bring together top amateur and professional players from across the state and touring pros from across the country.
Organizers say this year’s event represents one of the strongest fields in Illinois disc golf, supported by significant community investment. The professional divisions will feature an added $12,000 in prize money, while amateur participants will receive player packs valued at more than $250. Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge throughout the weekend.
With the new courses now open, officials say the goal is long-term: to provide year-round recreation for residents while continuing to attract major tournaments and visiting players, ensuring Forsyth remains a growing force in the disc golf community.
The Forsyth Open begins July 10 and runs through July 12 at Village Park. Registration is available through DiscGolfScene, and spectators are encouraged to attend.
