July 19, 2026 – The Decatur Park District is accepting applications to fill the unexpired term of Park Board Commissioner Bob Brilley, who passed away earlier this month.

The appointment will fill the remaining eight months of Brilley’s term, which expires following the April 2027 election.

Park Board President Chris Harrison said Brilley dedicated 17 years of service to the community and will be remembered for his commitment to seniors, encouraging children to return to neighborhood parks, and supporting Park District employees.

The Board is seeking an individual who lives within the Decatur Park District boundaries and is committed to serving the community. Applicants must submit a current resume outlining their education, experience and employment history, along with a statement of interest explaining why they want to serve on the Board, describing their community involvement over the past five years, and highlighting the skills and experience they would bring to the position.

Applications must be submitted in a sealed envelope to the Decatur Park District administrative office, attention Melanie Moore, Secretary to the Board, or by email no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, July 30.

The Park Board plans to interview finalists beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, August 10, and applicants selected as finalists must be available that evening for consideration.

For additional information, interested residents can contact the Decatur Park District administrative office.
